Inflation rose 1.4 percent nationwide in January

The prices of consumer goods and services, or the inflation rate, increased by 9.6% in January of this year compared to the same period last year, and by 1.4% compared to the previous month.

In January 2024, the inflation rate was 7.6%, but by January 2025, it had risen to 9.6%, showing a growth rate 2 percentage points higher than the same period the previous year.

The increase in national inflation was largely driven by a 30.6% rise in the price of imported goods (excluding gasoline and fuel), and a 53.2% increase in the price of domestic goods (excluding meat and solid fuels).

In the capital city, Ulaanbaatar, the inflation rate reached 9.7% in January of this year, accelerating by 1.5 percentage points compared to the same period last year. The inflation in Ulaanbaatar was also influenced by the price increases of both imported and domestic goods.
